If you are June-born, you might know the dragonfly is your spirit animal.
June is also Accordion Awareness Month.
The gemstone is the pearl.
The June flower is the rose AND the name of the main character in my book Praise Petals.
Paise Petals was published in 2021 by Headline Books. This is my favorite story and the second installment in a growing faith-based YA/MG series.
High School sophomore, Rose Hicks, tolerates her limited social life as long as her sidekick, Jay Allen, is by her side. When Jay receives the best news of his life, Rose is forced to survive the rest of the school year at the mercy of school bully Lilly GODZILLY JENKINS. To top it off, she is recruited to sing with Lilly and six other flower-named girls in an all-girl praise team. Rose realizes that even the most popular girls have problems and that “mean” girls need love too.
What do you get when you combine flowers, music, and a bit of teen angst?

Welcome in June with a copy of your own.
I am SO excited to celebrate June with you. As I await the final edits on Sunflower Sisters, I plan to rewrite, rework, and republish my first book, Abby. Originally published in 2011, this is the story of rising seventh grader Abigail Van Buren Masterson, named after the renowned advice columnist Dear Abby. Written in journal format, this book results from a lesson plan I created for a seventh-grade English class I was teaching at the time.
Throughout the school year, Abigail uncovers a family she didn't know existed, gains firsthand knowledge about multiple sclerosis, is bullied by the school drama queen, learns French from an Italian, and gets her first boyfriend.
Whew! Yes, that's alot.
But a redo will be worth the effort.
I''ll keep you updated,
